Rafael Nadal visits Rio De Janeiro’s Christ The Redeemer statue

World number one Rafael Nadal is currently in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil in preparation for his debut at the inaugural Rio Open 2014 tournament which begins on Monday. The Spaniard has been making the rounds in the city including his visit at the Christ the Redeemer statue located at the peak of the Corcovado mountain in the Brazilian city on Saturday.

The 30-meter statue was completed in 1931. This was included among the New Seven Wonders of the World.

“It is one of the most spectacular things I have ever seen,” Nadal said. “It is very beautiful, with the surrounding mountains it is an amazing view. The statue is fantastic. It is great to be in Rio. It is always nice to visit new places and Rio was definitely one of the places I wanted to be”
