Victoria Azarenka will attempt to play in Indian Wells despite foot injury

Tennis.com reports that world number three Victoria Azarenka will attempt to participate at the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells next month despite ongoing rehabilitation for foot injury. The Belarussian is reportedly wearing a walking boot these days to help rehabilitate the injured foot.

Azarenka has pulled out of the Qatar Open last week and this week’s Dubai Tennis Championships. The inactivity led to her surrending the world number two ranking to Li Na of China. Azarenka was the defending champion in Doha. She’s currently ranked number four.

Azarenka is a former champion at Indian Wells, winning the title in 2012 after defeating Maria Sharapova 6-2, 6-3.
