IMG, Bernard Tomic cut ties amicably

Global management company IMG and Australian tennis player Bernard Tomic have parted ways. Reports have surfaced that the company terminated its contract with Tomic before its due date of expiration because of his off-court antics. IMG used its official Twitter account to announce this development where it stressed that it was an amicable split.

“IMG and Bernard Tomic have mutually ended our relationship,” IMG Tennis tweeted.

“We wish Bernard great success on and off the tennis court.”

Tomic has been with IMG since he was 13 years of age. He garnered increasing media mileage after winning the juniors singles titles at the Australian Open 2008 and US Open 2009. His agreement with IMG reportedly gained him millions of dollars of marketing deals with major companies such as Yonex, Nike, Qantas and Optus.

Tomic achieved a career high number 27 but is currently ranked out of the world’s top 100 following inactivity for several months. He reached the Sydney International final on January but tanked out of the Australian Open. He underwent double hip surgery which forced him to miss a couple of months on tour.
