ATP World Tour Finals 2014 London sets record-breaking attendance

News Release (London) – The 2014 Barclays ATP World Tour Finals welcomed a record-breaking 263,560 fans across eight days of competition at The O2 in London. Nine of this year’s 15 sessions were total 17,800 sell-outs, helping to make the event the best-attended tournament in its 45-year history.

The 2014 attendance surpassed the previous record of 263,229, set in 2012. The total six-year attendance since the event moved to London in 2009 stands at 1,548,245.

This year’s tournament saw World No.1 Novak Djokovic become the third player in history to capture three consecutive year-end titles, after Ilie Nastase (1971-73) and Ivan Lendl (1985-87). In doubles, No.1 team Bob and Mike Bryan captured their 103rd team trophy. They have now clinched 10 or more tour-level titles in a single season on four occasions (also 2007, 2010, 2013).

This year’s tournament was televised by 56 different broadcasters in 195 territories, while the event drew record audiences online. Fans visited the ATP’s digital platforms in excess of 19 million times during the eight days of the tournament, a 37% increase on 2013. Mobile traffic accounted for more than 40% of the total website traffic.

Live match streaming on TennisTV.com, the ATP’s official live streaming site, received more than 5.8 million total streams, an increase of 29%.

The Barclays ATP World Tour Finals has a rich history dating back to the birth of the Masters in Tokyo in 1970. The tournament will be held at The O2 in London through 2015.

• 43 – number of accredited media from Japan covering Kei Nishikori’s first career appearance at the season-ending event. The Japanese star reached the semi-finals and became the first Asian in history to finish in the Top 5 of the year-end Emirates ATP Rankings. Japanese traffic to ATPWorldTour.com and BarclaysATPWorldTourFinals.com increased by 725.6% YOY and comprised 9.2% of total traffic during the duration of the tournament.
