The emotional 103rd victory of his career was complemented by a crowd of cheering fans and fellow townsmen. However, Federer then discussed the possibility of the Paris Masters after the same. Since Federer hasn’t won any of the Grand Slams this season, the ATP Finals could be one of the biggest events for him. This is why he has decided to opt-out of the Paris event.

The athlete is a bit worried about his back problems and intends to be 100 percent fit for the big event. Though he seemed to be in great form at the Basel match. Federer played against the 20-year-old Alex De Minaur and won the trophy with amazing sets of 6-2, 6-2.

The player himself believes that he has been in good shape in the past few months. He has been training at the top level and couldn’t have been better. However, his performance suffered last year due to back stiffness. Which is why the world no. 3 doesn’t wish to take any chances. He has said that if he can overcome his health issues and then not win, he’d be okay with that.

Currently, Federer’s golden goal seems to be breaking the record of Jimmy Connor’s 109 titles. But the player chooses to be ambiguous in this pursuit. He has said that even to equal with the record would be a huge deal but he can’t compromise his health. The tennis player has repeatedly highlighted that his health and his family have always been his priorities while everything else is secondary.

The ATP 2020 seems to be a crowded season, including major events like the Davis Cup and Laver Cup. ATP’s new season will open in Australia from 3rd January to 12th January, with two four-team groups competing in Brisbane, Perth, and Sydney each. This year, the Swiss have been paired in the same group as Belgium and Britain. The ATP Cup will make way for the Tokyo Olympics as well.

Federer has brought the trophy of ATP home about six-times and is preparing well to win this year. After winning a grand slam this season, the player wishes to soon rise through the ranks to reclaim his position as the best tennis player as well. ATP or the Association of Tennis Professionals is the main body of men’s tennis and one of the most prestigious grand slams to win at. Last year, Federer hadn’t performed well and wishes to rectify the same.
