World number six Stefanos Tsitsipas successfully defended the Open 13 title in Marseille on Sunday after outlasting young Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime 6-3, 6-4.
This is definitely a confidence-boosting victory for the Greek star following early exits at the Australian Open in Melbourne and the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament in Rotterdam last week. He started this week as the second seed. Top seed Daniil Medvedev crashed out in the quarterfinals.
This is Tsitsipas’ fifth career title. His most recent victory was at the prestigious ATP World Tour Finals in November last year.
Last year, then top-seeded Tsitsipas defeated Mikhail Kukushkin in the Marseille final.
