2020 BNP Paribas Open loses marquee players due to injuries

Several marquee ATP and WTA stars have pulled out of the 2020 BNP Paribas Open which is the first stop of the prestigious Sunshine Double in March. The BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells is an ATP 1000 Masters and WTA Premier Mandatory tournament that starts on March 9.

Here are the players that have pulled out so far of the tourmanent:

Bianca Andreescu (CAN) – defending champion
Angelique Kerber (GER) – defending runner-up
Simona Halep (ROU) – former champion (2015)
Victoria Azarenka (BLR) – former champion (2012, 2016)

ATP

Roger Federer (SUI) – five-time champion (2004, 2005, 2006, 2012, 2017), runner-up last year
