The Western & Southern Financial Group Masters and Women’s Open takes place this week, first with the women’s competition. Leading the field is world number two Jelena Jankovic followed by Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark. Noticeably absent in the competition are sisters Serena Williams (world number one) and Venus Williams (world number four). Venus has pulled out of the competition late last week due to pains in her left knee. Despite the absence of these top-caliber players, organizers said that they still have the strongest field to date.
