Victoria Azarenka’s only goal is to win US Open, nothing less

Third-ranked Victoria Azarenka said that her only goal at the US Open 2013 tournament is to lift the trophy by the end of the two week Grand Slam event.

“My goal is to win the U.S. Open and that will make me happy,” she said in an interview with Reuters. “Until I reach that – my eyes are only on that goal.”

The Belarussian admitted that she wouldn’t be happy just performing well enough to make deep runs in tournaments.

“I’m a winner at heart and I want to the best, so I don’t think I would be happy,” she said. “If I think my best is 12th, 15th or 100 probably I would be happy, but I don’t think it’s my best to be at that level.”

Azarenka was almost in the verge of winning the US Open title last year when she served for the match against Serena Williams in the third set. However, she was broken in that service game which allowed Williams to make a comeback and win her fourth career US Open title.
