ATP World Tour Finals 2009: Roger Federer vs Nikolay Davydenko Semifinals match

Nikolay Davydenko of Russia successfully booked his place in the final four of the year-end Barclays ATP World Tour Finals 2009 at the expense of defending champion Novak Djokovic of Serbia. It all boiled down to the player who won the most number of sets as three players in Group B registered 2-1 victories. With a 5-3 edge in sets win, Davydenko made it to the semifinals while Djokovic will have to wait for another opportunity to take the world number two ranking from Rafael Nadal, who left the tournament without any wins.

The Russian will next meet Swiss world number one Roger Federer with the winner advancing to the finals of this elite event. Federer holds a 12-0 edge in match wins against Davydenko which makes the Swiss star to win but Davydenko has been performing well in indoor tournaments for the past few weeks and this could be his chance to finally break the losing streak against Federer.
