This is the fourth year in a row where Serbian player Novak Djokovic has reached the semifinal stage of the US Open and he only progressed once in the finals. He had lost each of these matches to five-time champion Roger Federer. Now, he will have a chance to beat the world number two this time and spoil a possible Federer-Nadal final.
On Roger Federer’s part, he attempts to regain the title he lost last year to Juan Martin Del Potro of Argentina. The latter opted not to compete this year to recover completely from surgery. Federer has clinched the US Open title five years in a row before it was halted last year by Del Potro.
