Brisbane International 2013: Andy Murray beats Dimitrov to win title

Andy Murray successfully defended the Brisbane International title on Sunday after beating Bulgaria’s Grigor Dimitrov 7-6, 6-4. This makes Murray one of the heavy favorites to win the Australian Open 2013 tournament which begins on January 14.

Murray eased his way to the final after his semifinal opponent Kei Nishikori of Japan retired from the match while the Brit was up 6-4, 2-0. On the other hand, Dimitrov was contesting his first ATP World tour title after beating Marcos Baghdatis, a former Australian Open finalist, in the other semifinal.

Murray, who won the Olympic singles gold medal and the US Open title last season, is now expected by pundits to win additional Grand Slam titles. With Rafael Nadal out of the Australian Open, they believe that this is a tournament for him to lose.
