The Wawrinka vs Djokovic US Open 2013 semifinal match will take place at the Arthur Ashe Stadium on September 7, Saturday.
World number ten Stanislas Wawrinka of Switzerland produced the biggest upset in the men’s tournament so far after eliminated world number three and defending champion Andy Murray of Great Britain in the quarterfinals. What was more impressive about that match was that the Swiss number two won the match in straight sets. Meanwhile, Novak Djokovic encountered little resistance during his quarterfinal match against two-time semifinalist Mikhail Youzhny of Russia, losing a set for the first time in the tournament enroute to a four set victory.
Wawrinka trails Djokovic in their head to head series with 2-12. His last victory against the Serbian was way back in 2006, since then Djokovic has gone 11-0 from their matches starting 2007 to present. Their last match was also at the big stage at the Australian Open 2013 fourth round with Wawrinka pushing Djokovic to the limit but still lost in a five-set heartbreak.
