David Ferrer defeats Berdych to advance to Paris Masters semifinals

World number three David Ferrer advances to the semifinals of the Paris Masters 2013 tournament after defeating Tomas Berdych of Czech Republic 4-6, 7-5, 6-3. Up next for Ferrer is compatriot and world number one Rafael Nadal in the semifinal on Saturday.

The 31-year old is the defending champion of this event. A year ago, Ferrer won his first and only ATP World Tour Masters 1000 title to date after defeating Jerzy Janowicz in the final. This will be Ferrer’s 12th Masters semifinal appearance. Nadal has a 20-4 head to head series lead over Ferrer. Nadal advanced tot he semifinals after eliminating French player Richard Gasquet 6-4, 6-1.
