Wimbledon 2012: Novak Djokovic tries to not think of Federer’s record

Despite his world number one ranking, Djokovic said that he’ll be an underdog in the upcoming Wimbledon 2012 semifinal match against Roger Federer, saying that the Swiss star’s impressive record overall in terms of total number of Grand Slam wins and his achievement in this grasscourt Slam event is something that he’ll try not to think about when he’ll face the thrid-ranked player.

Federer currently holds a 14-12 lead against Djokovic in head-to-head career meetings but it will be their first time to meet on grasscourts.

“The success that he had over the period of seven, eight years says enough,” Djokovic said.

“He has won the most Grand Slams in history. He’s rated probably as the best player in history. He has won everything that a tennis player can win and he’s coming back for more. He has a lot of respect from me, from all the players. But we are all rivals, we are all opponents. I don’t think about his history or his success or whatever too much when I’m on the court. I just want to win that match,” he added.

The Wimbledon 2012 Men’s Singles Semifinal Matches will take place on July 6, 2012 – Friday.
